John T. Tharpe, 62, formerly of 1176 Graham Avenue, West Pittsburg, passed away the evening of June 22, 2016 at Overlook Medical Clinic, New Wilmington. Born on August 30, 1953, he was a son of Harold L. and Rita E. Elliott Tharpe. Mr. Tharpe attended Mercer Area Schools and then was employed by Lark Enterprises, Inc. He liked to listen to music and loved horses. He was a member of Northminster Presbyterian Church. Surviving him is one sister, Kathy (Dan) Blatecky of Brewster, WA; two sisters-in-law, Laura Tharpe of Medina, OH and Julie Tharpe of Phoenix, AZ; two nieces, Sherry (Keith) Livers of Cave Creek, AZ and Valerie (Troy) Mutter of Austin, TX; and two nephews, Zach Tharpe and Devin (Angie) Tharpe of Medina, OH. Preceding him in death is his father on September 25, 2005; his mother on February 15, 2001; two brothers, James and Paul Tharpe; and one nephew, Eric Blatecky. Visitation will be held on Monday from 11 - 1 at R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A funeral service will be held immediately following visitation at 1 pm Monday at the funeral home with Rev. Andrew Jillson of Northminster Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made in John's name to Special Olympics, P.O.
