John E. "Jack" Ubry, 90, of 425 Clen-Moore Blvd., New Castle, died the afternoon of September 7, 2010 in his home.Born March 1, 1920 in New Castle, he was a son of Sylvester J."Bob" and Josephine Shaffer Ubry. He married Anna M. Alborn on May 12, 1945. She preceded him in death on May 1, 2008.He was a graduate of New Castle High School and was in the U.S. Navy from 1939 to 1945 where he served on the USS Cole.Jack was employed with Penn Power in the meter department until his retirement in 1986.He enjoyed collecting coins and stamps, fishing, and his dog, Muffy.Jack was a member of First Baptist Church.He is survived by one son, Ralph Ubry of New Castle; and one brother, Eldred (Al) Ubry also of New Castle.In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by one sister, Mary Eileen Wolfbrandt.A private service will be held at R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. The Rev. John Yergan will officiate. Burial will be in Castle View Gardens.Memorial contributions may be made to the Lawrence County Humane Society, P.O.
