Joseph Earle Locke, 94, of Union Township, passed away the morning of September 9, 2021, at his home, with his loving family by his side. Born November 24, 1926, in New Castle, he was the son of Joseph Earle Locke, Sr. and Josephine H. (Britton) Locke. Mr. Locke is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Lois A. (Tinstman) Locke, whom he married May 25, 1951. After his graduation in 1944 from New Castle High School, Joe entered the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Seminole until 1946. He was employed at Penn Power in New Castle until working for Carine and Co. in Sharon. He then gained employment with Bruce and Merrilees as a manufacturing rep until his retirement. Joe was a former member of the Union Township Volunteer Fire Department where he was treasurer for 25 years. He was also an active member of the American Legion Post #343 and a member of First Baptist Church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Caroline F. (J. Bruce) Anderson of New Castle; two sons, T. John (Annette) Locke of Gibsonia, PA and Christopher W. (Jeanne) Locke of Malvern, OH; one brother, David P. (Dori) Locke of Boca Raton, FL; eight grandchildren, Heather E. Anderson, Kelsey (Jordan) Federer, Megan Anderson, Elizabeth (Joshua) Montgomery, Christopher M. (Chelsea) Locke, Kacey M. (Cameron) Lewis, Jordan T. Locke and Brittany Locke; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Robert Locke and John L. Locke.
