Joseph Maggie, Jr., 85, of New Castle, went to be with the Lord the afternoon of September 9, 2014, at Jameson Hospital, surrounded by his loving and devoted family.Joseph was born in New Castle on August 27, 1929, to the late Joseph Maggie, Sr. and Agnes DeRosa Maggie.Joseph was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Susie DiAnn Park Maggie, whom he married June 28, 1952.Joseph was employed with Lockley Machine as a machinist for 41 years, retiring in 1992.He was a car enthusiast and was a member of First Assembly of God.He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Tammy Sue (Nick) Daltorio of New Castle; two sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph (Donna L.) Maggie III, and Ronnie W. (Rosemary) Maggie, all of New Castle; five grandchildren, Cheryl Sue (James) Griffith, Joseph (Ashlee) Maggie IV, Ronnie W. (Megan) Maggie Jr., Karla Sue Brest, and Mark E. Brest Jr; and five great-grandchildren, James W. Griffith Jr, Isabella A., Avery K., Aubrey J. and Danielle Marie Maggie.Joseph was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Susie; two sisters, Concetta Venezio and Virginia Brown; and three brothers, Dom, Floyd and Roger Maggie.Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon Friday, September 12, 2014, at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Rd.A funeral service will take place immediately following visitation Friday, September 12, 2014, at noon at the funeral home and will be officiated by Rev. Kenneth Meyer.Burial will be in Castle View Memorial Gardens.
