Joseph S. Sorbo, 77, of Union Township, passed away the afternoon of August 20, 2021, at UPMC Jameson Hospital after a brief illness. Born August 20, 1944, in New Castle, he was the son of Andrew and Antoinette (Flauto) Sorbo. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Donna (Kerr) Sorbo, whom he married April 7, 1967. Mr. Sorbo was a graduate of Shenango High School and was a bus driver for the Union Area School District until his retirement. Joe was active in the Royal Rangers, a youth mentoring ministry, for 35 years. He also enjoyed sending greeting cards and loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was a member of New Hope Family Worship Center in New Castle. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Dawnya Lynn (Jonathan) Conti of Houston, Texas and Anita (Patrick) Conner of Pulaski, PA; one sister, Ellen Aiello of North Ridgeville, Ohio; six grandchildren, Andrew (Jessica) Conti, Jordana (Roland) Santiago, Kaitlyn Conner, Allyson Conner, Patrick Conner, Jr., and Eryn Conner; and two great-grandchildren, Immanuel Conti and Brian Santiago. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, JoAnn Conrad, Edna Mihok and Adelaide Strayer; and three brothers, John, Andrew Sr., and Anthony Sorbo. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 25, from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road. A funeral service will take place immediately following visitation at 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Bill Whisel officiating.
