Joyce J. Houk, 84, formerly of New Castle, passed away peacefully the morning of June 10, 2022, at Apple Blossom Senior Living in Coraopolis. Born November 2, 1937, in New Castle, she was the daughter of Edward and Ethel (McClure) Locke. She is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, Darrell A. Houk, whom she married May 14, 1960. Joyce was a graduate of Shenango High School and was employed as a secretary for several years with First Methodist Church in New Castle. She later worked with Challenges, Options in Aging and was a representative for Friendly Home Parties. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Cindy (Tim) Blanton of Greenville, PA and Christy Weigel of Carnegie, PA; one brother, Jim (Cheryl) Locke of New Castle; one sister, Carolyn (David) Nimmo of New Castle; four grandchildren, Crystal Michlich, Michael Michlich, Carley Weigel and Kayla Weigel; and one great-grandchild, Maison Stinedurf. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Dale and Leonard Locke. A Celebration of Life service will take place on Sunday, June 19, at 2:00 p.m. at First Church of God, 12 W. Euclid Avenue, New Castle, PA. Pastor Bill Hunley will officiate. Burial will be in Castle View Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to First Church of God.
