Joyce I. Williams, 77, of Hickory Township, passed away suddenly the night of November 3, 2020 at her residence.
Born January 11, 1943 in Washington Township, PA, she was the daughter of George and Lavina (Harding) McConahy.
She was preceded in death on May 12, 2007 by her husband of 42 years, Mark A. Williams, Sr.
A 1962 graduate of Wilmington High School, Joyce was employed with K-Mart in the store's cafeteria and was also a homemaker.
She enjoyed reading, playing bingo and darts and often meeting her classmates for breakfast. She was so proud of her new great-grandson as well as all five of her grandchildren.
Joyce worked the elections board for Hickory Township many years. She also was a member of Moose Lodge, the Cultural German Society, Polish Falcons and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Lodge 455.
She is survived by one daughter, Janice L. (Jeffery) Pennington of New Castle; one son, Terry L. (Debbie) Williams of Lakewood, Ohio; two brothers, George McConahy of New Castle and Herb McConahy of Volant; two sisters, Jean Sholler of Volant and Joan Fritz of Orville, Ohio; 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Mark A. Williams, Jr. and a sister, Dorothy Peters.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 9, from 11:00-1:00 at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road.
A private family service will take place Monday at 1:00.
Due to the unfortunate health crisis, the family asks that face masks and social distancing be practiced.
Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
