Julia L. Bartlett, age 99, of New Castle, passed away the morning of Oct. 4, 2020 at The Grove in Greenville.
Last remaining member of the first generation of Fuscos, born to Andrew & Michelina Fusco of New Castle, PA. Her parents emigrated from Italy to New Castle circa 1902 with her oldest brother, Louis. Her father was a well-known shoemaker & pastor in the New Castle area for many years. She was preceded in death by 8 older siblings: Louis Fusco, Lena Ludovici, Mary Sarbo, Angelo Fusco, Dante (Danny) Fusco, Nancy Sarbo, Joe Fusco, and Michelina (Mickey) Carletti, plus a brother (Andrew) who died at age 3. She also outlived 12 nieces & nephews.
Julia left New Castle at age 20 when WWII broke out, to work in the shipyards in Camden NJ, helping to build destroyers for the US Navy. She remained there for the duration of the war, and eventually settled in Philadelphia, where she remained for many years. She was married to John C. (Jay) Bartlett from 1951-1970. She has 1 son, John C. Bartlett III (age 67), currently residing in New Castle. She spent several years residing in Riverside Apts. in New Castle. She spent the last 4 months of her life at The Grove in Greenville, due to advancing Alzheimers.
A service will be held at Castle View Mausoleum Chapel on Wed. Oct. 7th at 10:00 AM. Burial to follow immediately after the service.
