Julie Ann Cowmeadow, 62, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., born Dec. 15, 1947, in New Castle, passed away peacefully Jan. 11, 2010, in her home with her husband at her side. She lost her nearly two year battle with breast cancer leaving behind her husband Randy, and three children, Christie Reid of Albuquerque, N.M., David of Tamarac, Fla., and Cindy of Honolulu, Hawaii; as well as two grandchildren, Ashley Reid and Anthony Reid; her parents, Gilbert and June Warnock Cox; and brother, John Cox, all of New Castle. Her strong will, faith in God, love of family, and an unparalleled upbeat attitude helped this former nurse persevere through all that life threw at her. She never asked "why me?" She never felt sorry for herself and always looked for the silver lining in the dark clouds overhead with a smile upon her face like her recent trip to Colorado to ride the Durango, Silverton Railroad on a vintage steam engine to celebrate her 40th wedding anniversary, to the whole family being together for Christmas.Friends and family are invited to the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road for visitation from 2 to 6 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010.A service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 18, 2010, at the funeral home.
