Justyne I. Houston, 98, of New Castle, passed away the morning of July 23, 2019 at Avalon Place. Born March 19, 1921 in New Castle, she was the daughter of John C. and Hannah (Edmunds) Morrow. She was preceded in death in October, 1984 by her husband of 43 years, Gilbert W. Houston, whom she married on August 7, 1941. A graduate of Eastbrook High School in 1939, Justyne enjoyed being a homemaker. She was an avid reader, enjoyed sewing and cherished the time spent with her family. She was of Christian faith. She is survived by one daughter, Judith (Ronald) Strobel of New Castle; three sons, David (Nancy) Houston and Thomas (Beverly) Houston of New Castle, and Gary Houston of Greenville, Florida; two brothers, John C. Morrow of New Castle and Elmer C. Morrow of Williamsport, PA; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Thomas Morrow; one sister, Sally Thompson; and two daughters-in-law, Janet R. Roth Houston and Georgia M. Houston. Her family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Avalon Place for the compassion and care they had for their mother. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Friday from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road. A funeral service will take place on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Larry Llewellyn officiating. Burial will be beside her husband in Unity Baptist Cemetery.
