Karen Elaine Bortnyik, 59, of Neshannock Township passed away the morning of June 4, 2016 at Edison Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born on July 2, 1956, Karen was the daughter of William and M. Viola Bishop Bortnyik. They precede her in death. A 1974 graduate of New Castle High School, she then received her master's degree in special education from Clarion University in 1980. She was employed as a special education teacher with the Oil City School District. Surviving is one brother, Kevin W. Bortnyik of Cranberry Township, PA. With respect to Karen's wishes, no services will be held. Arrangements have been entrusted to R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.
