Karen I. Munson, age 66, of New Castle, passed away the evening of Nov. 12, 2022, at UPMC Jameson Hospital.

Born Dec. 1, 1955, in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late Leonard E. and Phyllis I. (Mielke) Munson, Sr.

Karen was a 1973 graduate of New Castle High School. She went on to obtain her nursing degree from Jameson School of Nursing, graduating in 1989. Karen worked as a Registered Nurse, employed by Jameson Memorial Hospital, until her retirement. She enjoyed collecting pigs, fishing, shopping, and her beloved dogs. She was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, especially Ben Roethlisberger. Karen was a member of Savannah United Methodist Church.

Karen is survived by numerous cousins and close friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Leonard E. Munson, Jr., and her uncles and aunts.

Visitation will be held on Sat. Nov. 19th from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.

A funeral service will take place at noon with the Rev. Matthew Bupp, officiating.
