Karl H. Chandler III of Mt. Jackson left his earthly home April 25, 2022, with his wife and daughters by his side. Born July 10, 1942, in Cleveland, Karl was the son of the late Karl H. Jr. and Trudie (Wheaton) Chandler. After the family moved to Edinburg, Karl was active in 4H and Boy Scouts. Following graduation from Union High School he went on to earn a bachelor's degree in business administration from Youngstown State University. He began his career in highway construction inspection with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation based at the Franklin office, retiring as a construction manager from the Oil City office after 40 years. Karl and the former Sandi Wallace were married June 29, 1974, and made their home in Mt. Jackson. He was a member of the former First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), where he served as elder and deacon; a member of the Church of Genesis; and past president of the former Bessemer Mohawk Rotary. He was active in numerous Masonic organizations, including Lodge of the Craft Westminster (past master); Valley of New Castle Consistory (33°, Meritorious Service Award and past commander); Cathedral Foundation board of directors; and past president of Lawrence Caravan #15 of Syria Shrine. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Kurt and Heather (Chandler) Kwasnicka and Walt and Megan (Chandler) Monstwil; grandchildren, Noah and Alina Monstwil; sister, Sally Chandler; and in-laws Jim and Barbara Wallace, Mike and Jan (Wallace) Vieyra and Joe and Donna (Wallace) Pacchioni. Preceding him in death were his parents, sister Carol, and parents-in-law, John and Peg (McCurley) Wallace. Visitation will be Thursday, April 28, from 3-7 p.m. in the West Lodge Room of the Scottish Rite Cathedral, 113 E. Lincoln Avenue, New Castle. A Masonic service will take place at 7 p.m., followed immediately by the funeral and committal services officiated by Pastor Ron Eade of the Church of Genesis.
