Katherina Zehetner, 91, of New Castle, passed away the evening of July 28, 2020 at Haven Convalescent Home. Born August 31, 1928 in Transylvania, Romania she was a daughter of George and Kathrine Benesch. She was preceded in death on August 22, 2008 by her husband of 59 years, Alfred Zehetner, whom she married September 4, 1948. A homemaker, Katherina enjoyed baking and cooking. She was a member of the Eintracht Singing Society and the Saxon Club in Youngstown. She was a former member of St. John's Lutheran Church. She is survived by three daughters, Monika (Ernie) Wheale, Evelyn (Randall) DeJohn and Hildegard "Hilda" (Abe) Izzo, all of New Castle; one son, Erich (Susan) Zehetner of New Castle; a daughter-in-law, Cindy Zehetner of New Castle; 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Alfred Zehetner II. A private graveside service was held for the family at Graceland Cemetery with the Rev. Frederick Gilbert officiating. Arrangements were handled by the R.
