Kathleen "Kay" S. Shaner, 92, of Neshannock Township, went to her heavenly home the afternoon of December 3, 2019 at Shenango on the Green. Born May 24, 1927 in Ellwood City, PA, she was the daughter of the late Gustave, Sr. and Kathryn (Bender) Seivert. She was preceded in death on April 12, 1975 by her husband, Russell Dale Shaner. A 1945 graduate of Ellwood City High School, Kay was employed as a secretary at Lawrence County Vo-Tech where she worked in the Practical Nursing Program, Library and Business Office. A member of Challenges and Prime Timers, she was also active with Jameson Junior Guild Sewing Society and taught adult literacy through the New Castle Public Library. Kay was an avid reader and took great pride in her personal book collection. She enjoyed taking bus trips and tours with her friends. She attended New Wilmington Presbyterian Church. She is survived by a daughter, Sharyn Kay Shaner, of New Castle; a son, David (Joyce) Shaner of New Wilmington; one grandchild, Wade (Tracy) Shaner; and three great-grandchildren, Ross, Tori and Kaylee Shaner. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Gustave Seivert, Jr. A one hour visitation will be held on Friday, December 6, from 10:00-11:00 at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., followed immediately by a Memorial Service at 11:00 with the Rev. Dr. Matt Camlin officiating. Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery.
