Kathryn Jeanne McCullough Davis, 96, of New Castle, passed away the afternoon of January 31, 2015 at Edison Manor.
Born August 27, 1918 in Sharon, PA, she was a daughter of Fergus and Sylvia McMillen McCullough.
She was preceded in death on July 8, 2010 by her husband of 70 wonderful years of marriage, John G. Davis, Jr., whom she married June 7, 1940.
She was a graduate of Sharon High School and attended Shenango Valley Business School.
Kathryn retired from Liberty Mutual Insurance as an underwriter in 1983. Prior, she worked as a bookkeeper for both Jameson Hospital, and Strouss-Hirshberg Department Store.
She was a member of Wimodausis, Eastern Star, Jameson Junior Guild, and was the treasurer of the Festival of Trees.
She served as past president of the American Women Business Association where she previously received the honor of Woman of the Year.
In addition to being a member of several card clubs, Kathryn and her husband were avid bowlers in both duck pin and ten pin leagues. She served as a secretary and treasurer in many leagues.
Her family was of great importance to her. She was known for her cooking and loved serving family dinners. She and her husband John lived for their Sunday excursions along with family activities and loved their dog, Nicki.
An active member of Northminster Presbyterian Church, she was a deacon and elder, and served in the kitchen for many church dinners.
She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Hudson of New Castle, and Jacquelyn (James) Clonch of Plain City, Ohio; 5 grandchildren, James B. (Patty) Morris, Marda (Jeff) Parish, John G. (Cherie) Hudson, Matthew P. (Nichol) Hudson, and David (Gabriela) Ewing; and 12 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Carla Jean Morris and Sylvia Davis; one son, John G. Davis, III; and one brother, Addison McCullough.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.
A funeral service will take place on Friday at 1:00 p.m. at Northminster Presbyterian Church, 2434 Wilmington Road, New Castle, with Rev. Andrew Jillson officiating.
Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery.
