Katie Hare, age 95, of New Castle, passed away the afternoon of July 29, 2024, at Jameson Care Center.

Born May 26, 1929, in New Castle, she was the daughter of Michael Flyak, Sr. and Martha (Lisson) Flyak. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marlan Everett Hare, II in 1976.

A graduate of New Castle High School, Katie was a homemaker. In addition to being a cat lover, she was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates, enjoyed football, hockey and collecting teddy bears as well as sports memorabilia. She was a member of Rose Point Church.

She is survived by two sons, Jonathan Hare of New Castle and Marlan E. (Arlene) Hare, III of Virginia Beach, VA; two daughters, Melody Lawrence of West Pittsburg, PA and Linda (Bob) Carlsen of Woodland Park, CO; one brother, George (MaryAnn) Flyak of Poland, OH; nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren with a couple on the way.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Shirley McCauley; one brother, Michael Flyak; and two sisters, Mary Kovacs and Anne Chuba.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 5, from 12:00-1:00 at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road.

A funeral service will take place immediately following visitation at 1:00 at the funeral home with Pastor Charles Brown of Rose Point Church officiating.
