Obituary

Kay V. Matsook, 57, of Shenango Township, passed away at her home the morning of March 16, 2019 after a short battle with cancer. Born May 9, 1961 in New Castle, she was the daughter of John Fred Glasser and Virginia (Book) Glasser. She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Dennis Matsook, whom she married October 26, 1985. A graduate of Shenango High School, Kay was employed in the benefits department at F.N.B. Corporation in Hermitage, PA. An active member of Harmony Baptist Church, she served as the choir director and helped organize the outdoor church events in the summer. Kay enjoyed singing, cooking and spending time with her three grandchildren to whom she was known as Boba. She will be missed by her two loving companions, her dogs Buzz and Tessa. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Patrick D. (Rachel) Matsook of New Castle and Nicholas A. (Kayla) Matsook of Ellwood City; three brothers, John (Janice) Glasser of Hillsboro, North Carolina, Dennis (Debra) Glasser of Wampum and Mark (Mary) Glasser of New Castle; and three grandchildren, Gabriella, Jordan and Stone. She was preceded in death by her parents and one granddaughter, Olivia. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 20, from 2-4 and 6-9 pm at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A funeral service will take place on Thursday at 11:00 am at Harmony Baptist Church, 4103 Ellwood Road, New Castle with the Rev. Jeff MacKay officiating. Burial will be in Harmony Baptist Cemetery.
