Kenneth W. Jerry, age 100, of New Castle, passed away the afternoon of March 28, 2018 at Shenango Presbyterian SeniorCare in New Wilmington. Born July 1, 1917 in New Castle, he was the son of Frank and Lillian G. White Jerry. Kenneth was married to Phyllis Houseman Jerry until her passing in 1986. He subsequently married Edna S. Shaffer Jerry who also preceded him on December 28, 2014. Kenneth was a graduate of New Castle High School. He served his country in the US Army during WWII from 1941-1945 with the 94th Signal Company, 94th Infantry Division as a radio operator with the 3rd Army during the European Theater. He was employed as a relay tester for 25 years with Penn Power Company and was a member of the Penn Power Retirees. He was a Certified Nurseryman and owned his own nursery for many years. A former member of First Christian Church, he served as a Deacon and member of the Lookout Class. He more recently was a member of Shenango Presbyterian Church. In addition to reading, among his interests he enjoyed the outdoors including fishing, gardening, boating and taking walks. He is survived by his three daughters and their husbands, Nancy and Richard Macaluso and Kathleen and James Copper of New Castle and Marilyn and Larry Klemens of Sharon; 6 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 3 step great-grandchildren; and 1 step great-great-grandchild. In addition to his parents and his two wives, he was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Mark Jerry and one brother, Donald Jerry. Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 31, from 10:00-12:00 at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A funeral service will take place immediately following the visitation at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Amy Na officiating. Full military rites will be performed by the New Castle Area Honor Guard. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
