Kenneth James Matthews, 60, of State Route 18, New Wilmington, passed away May 23, 2014 at Edison Manor.Born June 10, 1953, he was a son of Robert and Hazel Hayden Matthews.Ken was a graduate of Lawrence County Vo-Tech and was employed for over 35 years with the Dairy Farmers of America as a loader.Ken loved attending New Castle High School football games, and his greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family and his grandson, Logan.He is survived by his daughter, Maggie Louise Matthews of New Castle; a step-son Matthew Ross; a step-daughter, Heidi (Ross) Michaels; a sister, Darlene Gibson of New Castle; one grandson, Logan Lee Ott; and two step-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents.Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2014, from 6:00-7:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.A funeral service will be held immediately following visitation at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home and will be officiated by Rev. Matthew Bupp, Celtic Hospice Chaplin.
