Kenneth E. McConnell, 87, of 3770 State Route 168, Volant, PA, passed away the morning of July 9, 2015 at his home. Born September 23, 1927 in Washington Twp, PA, he was a son of Sherman J. and Mary McConahy McConnell. Ken is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Beverly A. McClelland McConnell, whom he married March 30, 1951. Because of his love for working the land and working with cattle, horses and ponies, Ken was a self-employed Farmer on Kemland Farms. He was an honorary member of the Wilmington FFA, member of the PA Farmers Association, and member and director of the Beaver-Lawrence County Holstein Club. Ken was also a former member of Castle Paws and Taws, the Laurel Travel Club, and enjoyed his golfers Monday night dinner group. He served on the Rich Hill Cemetery Committee from 1965 to the present. A current member of Clen-Moore Presbyterian Church, he previously served as a deacon and trustee at Rich Hill Presbyterian Church. In addition to his wife Beverly, he is survived by one daughter, Jill E. McConnell of New Wilmington; two sons, Gary (Anna) McConnell and Jeffrey (Susan) McConnell of Volant; one brother, Harold (Mary) McConnell of Volant; 5 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and 2 step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters, Marie Carter and Mable Jenkins; and 2 brothers, Arnold McConnell and Richard McConnell. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 1-4 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A funeral service will take place on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Chris Weichman officiating.
