Kenneth Allen Murphey, 57, of 168 Baymeadows Drive, Jackson, TN, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 while in New Castle. Born September 6, 1955, in New Castle, he was a son of James Murphey Sr. and Beverley Milliron Murphey. He was a graduate of New Castle High School in 1973 and attended Westminster College in New Wilmington, PA. In 1980 he moved to Fairmont, WV. Kenny won many awards in wrestling and boxing, even winning a fight against Ray "Boom Boom" Mancini before his pro-career began. He was a great painter who took pride in a job well done. His company, Murph Co. Paint and Paper, was recognized by many in the community for the high standards and excellent workmanship he provided. He enjoyed football, poker, gardening, fishing, coaching youth wrestling and spending time with his family and friends. Kenny attended the Everlasting Covenant Church in Fairmont, WV. In addition to his mother of Jackson, TN, with whom Kenny resided,and his father, he will be lovingly remembered by his children; two sons, K.W. Murphey and wife Rebecca and Corey Murphey all of Fairmont, WV; two daughters, Natashia and husband Creighton Ryan and Kalee Murphey of Fairmont, WV; the mother of his children, Michelle Murphey of Fairmont, WV; one brother, Jimmy Murphey of New Castle; a sister, Debby Harper of Jackson, TN; six grandchildren, Austin, Avery, Owen, Emersen, Gavin and Alaina; and his father-in-law Walter Owens of Rivesville WV. He was preceded in death by a sister, Karen Colich; and a brother, Gary Murphey. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 11, 2013, from 7:00-9:00 p.m. and Tuesday, February 12, 2013, from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A funeral service will take place Tuesday, February 12, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Roy Weese officiating. Burial will be in Savannah Methodist Cemetery.
