Obituary

Larry R. Davis, 71, of Brest Road, New Castle, surrounded by friends and family singing praises to God, shed his earthly body and adorned his eternal heavenly body the morning of Thursday, December 19, 2013 at Jameson Hospital in New Castle from an extended illness.Born on July 26, 1942 in New Castle, he was the son of the late Herbert W. Davis and Mildred E. Davis. Larry and his father shared the same birthday. He was a special birthday present for his father on that July day. Larry was brought up in Eastbrook, loving to hunt, golf, and fish. He developed a talent for art that helped him through his career at Shenango China as a graphic arts specialist. He helped design many china patterns and decal designs over his 25 years at Shenango China.Larry later worked for Lark Enterprises in New Castle until his retirement in 2004. He was also a member and deacon at Victory Christian Center in Coitsville, Ohio. His love of art manifested itself in his many drawings and paintings of the beauty of God's creations. He was a master craftsman of woodworking as well, and he used the amazing talent God bestowed upon him to create incredible works of art with wood. He loved to spend time with his family and particularly enjoyed the times he was able to spend with his grandchildren, Sarah and Kevin. He is survived by his wife Karen; his son, Jeffrey Davis of New Castle; a brother, David Davis from California; two sisters, Janet Wilklin from Kentucky and Sally Stone from Alabama; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Sunday. December 22, 3013, from 2 p.m. - 6 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A special celebration service of the life of Larry R. Davis will be held on Monday, December 23, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home and will be officiated by Pastor Joseph Thomas. Burial will be in Castle View Gardens. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3208B Wilmington Road, New Castle, PA 16105 or to Victory Christian Center, 3899 McCartney Rd., Coitsville, OH 44436, in his honor.
