Larry James Grimm, age 87, of Mesa, Arizona, passed away the afternoon of March 30, 2024, at his residence.

Born March 31, 1936, in New Castle, PA, he was the son of Peter S. and Rosella M. (Meister) Grimm.

A 1954 graduate of New Castle High School, he continued his education at Youngstown State University where he received his bachelor's degree, and Indiana University of Pennsylvania for his master's. He studied abroad as well, taking classes in Guadalajara. Larry served his country in the US Navy aboard the USS Macon.

Larry was a social studies teacher. Most of his career was spent with the Department of Corrections in Arizona.

Among his varied interests, he enjoyed spending time in the kitchen, cooking and baking. A member of the Arizona Community Church, he was active with the "In-Joy!" group and participated in the production of the Living Christmas Tree. He held memberships in the American Legion and the VFW.

He is survived by one brother, Leroy Grimm of Volant, PA; one sister, Donna Grimm of New Wilmington, PA; and J. Martin Jones – "Baby Bear, Papa Bear's special friend.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Ronald Grimm, Alfred "Buck" Grimm, Charles Grimm and Jack D. Grimm, Sr.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 5, from 2:00-5:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.

A funeral service will take place immediately following the visitation at 5:00 with Pastor Darryl Lockie officiating.

Burial will be in Castle View Memorial Gardens.

Military honors will be performed by the New Castle Area Honor Guard.
