Lawrence C. Reed, age 86, of New Castle, passed away the afternoon of Oct. 19, 2022, at his residence.

Born Nov. 7, 1935, in New Castle, he was the son of the late James and Ruth (Young) Reed.

On April 7, 1962, he married his beloved wife of 60 years, Marilyn C. (Shingler)Reed. She survives at home.

Larry was a 1953 graduate of New Castle High School. He went on to faithfully serve his country in the United States Air Force, Airman First Class, where he played in the Drum and Bugle Corps. Larry worked for the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier for 35 years until his retirement. He then went to work as a clerk, for 15 years, employed by Jameson Memorial Hospital. Larry enjoyed bowling and was a member of many leagues. He was an avid musician, playing the drums for several bands in the New Castle area. He loved the time he was able to spend with his family and his cat "Tabitha". He was a member of Highland Presbyterian Church and attended First Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, Larry is survived by one daughter, Rebecca Reed of New Castle, PA; one son, Daniel L. (Nancy) Reed of New Castle, PA; two grandchildren, Jared R. (Lauren) Reed and David R. (Casey) Reed.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Poppy Joy Reed, one brother, James Reed, one sister-in-law, Carol Reed, one sister, Joyce McCartt and one brother-in-law, Jerome McCartt.

In keeping with his wishes all services will be private.

Entombment will be at Graceland Mausoleum.
