Lee D. Pence, Sr., 94, of New Castle died peacefully in God's eternal hands, August 7, 2020 at UPMC Jameson Memorial Hospital, New Castle. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years of Dolores (Urmson) Pence.
Born January 13, 1926 in New Castle, PA and was the son of late Bert C Pence Sr., and Talma (Smith) Pence.
Surviving are his four children: Lee D Pence Jr., Wilmington, NC, Linda Calhoun (husband Bruce) of Fairfield, PA. Karen Peterson and Kevin Pence of New Castle, 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, two brothers, Victor Pence of New Castle and Mark Pence of Florida.
Along with his parents and wife, Lee was preceded in death by two sisters, three brothers, and one grandson, Danny Pence.
Lee served in the AAF, as a SGT, during World War II as a tail gunner, was a ' jack of all trades' while owning his own business for over 50 years; helping people was his moto and kindness, always with a smile, spread to all whom he met.
He loved the outdoors, riding motorcycles, four wheelers, enjoyed hunting at the cabin, spending quality time with his family, telling stories and jokes to the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They fondly called him Pappy as each took their turn running to greet him at his truck, where he kept a bag of candy just waiting for little hands to grab.
He will be greatly missed by his entire family.
In keeping with his wishes, there will be no visitation or services.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Lawrence County Humane Society, P.O. Box 62, New Castle, PA 16103.
