Obituary

Leonard Gene Archer, Jr., age 64, of Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 16, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones.

Born on March 8, 1961, in Garden Grove, California, Leonard was the beloved son of Leonard Gene Archer, Sr., and Margaret Evelyn Thomson Schurman. He graduated from Quaker Valley High School in 1979 and earned his bachelor's degree from ICM School of Business in 1989.

In 1987, he married Susan C. Zotter in Sewickley, Pennsylvania, and together they shared 37 years of love and life. Leonard spent most of his career in photography, where he combined technical skill with a heart to encourage—his portraits often paired with Scripture to uplift and inspire, many of which still hang in homes today.

Leonard was a man of deep faith who loved the Lord with all his heart. He attended Church of the Living Christ in Imperial, PA, for over 20 years, where he was a vibrant part of the community. He served on the praise and worship team, taught in children's ministry, participated in Vacation Bible School, and even ministered through drama alongside his wife. He loved praise and worship and found joy in expressing his faith through music and service.

Leonard lived a hard life, and yet he never let that harden his heart. He had the rare gift of encouragement—always quick to speak life over others, especially on their worst days. He had a way of making people feel seen, loved, and believed in. He also had a generous spirit and would give anything to help someone in need.

He had a heart for young people, a passion for people of all kinds, and a contagious personality that filled any quiet room with laughter and energy. He loved stories, conversation, gadgets, knickknacks, and seeing the good in others.

He is survived by his loving wife, Susan; his three sons: Eric Archer of Burgettstown, PA, and his children Blake and Bella Raye Archer; Benjamin (Alyssa) Archer of Freedom, PA, and their children Mila, Eli, Aria, and Zion (on the way); and William Archer of Burgettstown, PA.

He is also survived by his mother, Margaret Evelyn Schurman of Cranberry, PA; his brother, Dan (Shauna) Archer of Utah; his sister, Andrea Kasler of Fort Myers, FL; his half-brother, Curt (Nancy) Schurman; and several nieces and nephews.

Leonard was preceded in death by his father, Leonard Gene Archer, Sr.; his brother, Michael Archer; his half-brother, Daryl Schurman; and his stepfather, Sonny Schurman, who played a significant role in his life as a father.

Though our hearts ache with loss, we take great comfort in knowing that Leonard accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior. Because of that, this goodbye isn't forever—it's just "see you later." He is now in the presence of Jesus: whole, healed, and finally at peace. No more pain, no more tears… just joy unspeakable in the presence of the Savior.
