Lillius Irene McClure, affectionately known as Lilly, peacefully departed on April 19, 2024, with her husband of 75 years, John McClure, by her side. Lilly was preceded in death by her parents, Hazel and Leigh Shelar, her three brothers - Arthur, Leigh, and Wayne Shelar - and her son-in-law, Paul Porter.

Born on November 28, 1930, in New Castle, PA, Lilly was the youngest among her siblings. She held a special place in her father's heart and cherished moments of singing, dancing, and piano sessions with her mother. In her high school years, Lilly shone in the drama club, notably landing the lead role in "A Date with Judy" during her senior year. It was during this time that she met her future husband, John McClure of Grove City, on a blind date. Soon after, they exchanged vows and embarked on building a family together.

Seeking the comforts of suburban life, the couple, along with their three children, settled in a cozy bungalow in Neshannock Township, surrounded by expansive green lawns for their children to explore. Eventually, Lilly joined her husband in the real estate business, obtaining her license and maintaining it for over six decades while working with McClure Realty.

Lilly's legacy is marked by her vibrant zest for life and her mantra of "Live, Laugh, Love," which she embodied daily. Her warm smile and genuine friendliness endeared her to many, and she found joy in gardening, actively participating in the local garden club for numerous years. A fervent supporter of the Penn State Nittany Lions, Lilly staunchly defended her team whenever challenged. With the arrival of grandchildren, Lilly delighted in traveling to California, Florida, and Colorado to spend quality time with them, and she and John cherished winters in their St. Petersburg, FL vacation home.

Survived by her devoted husband John and their three children - Shayla (Bruce) McClure of Pagosa Springs, CO, Nettie Porter (late husband Paul) of Carmel Valley, CA, and Dick (Becki) McClure of St. Petersburg, FL - Lilly leaves behind a cherished legacy. Additionally, she is survived by seven grandchildren: Leigh Ashley Dittmar (Aaron) of Ocala, FL, Lauren Porter of Brooklyn, NY, Reed Porter (Sarah) of Annecy, France, Robert Porter (Ellen) of Overland Park, KS, Richie McClure, Clint McClure, and Mitchell McClure of St. Petersburg, FL. Recently, Lilly was blessed with three great-grandchildren: Lily and Sasha Porter of Annecy, France, and Paul Porter of Overland Park, KS.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Lilly's doctors and caregivers, particularly Siglinde, Stacy, and Carolyn for their compassionate care over the past year. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 25th, from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle, and on Friday, April 26th, from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM at Northminster Presbyterian Church, 2434 Wilmington Road, New Castle.

A funeral service will take place, at the church on Friday, April 26th, immediately following visitation, at 1:00 PM. The Rev. Dr., Jordan Rimmer, of Northminster Presbyterian Church, will be officiating.
