Obituary

Linda C. Gattey, age 72, of New Castle, passed away October 15, 2015 at her residence. Born January 8, 1943 in Milton, Massachusetts, she was a daughter of Kenneth and Ruth Edson Cahoon. She was preceded in death on August 30, 1997 by her husband of 33 years, Robert L. Gattey, whom she married on November 16, 1963. Linda was a graduate of Dean Junior College and was employed as a sales clerk for the Sweet Shoppe for 16 years where she was known as the "candy lady". A member of the Jameson Junior Guild, she was an artist and enjoyed painting floral arrangements. She served as both a deacon and an elder with Clen-Moore Presbyterian Church. As a warm, loving mother, she is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Laurie and Doug Cundiff of Cranberry, Pa., and Christine and Tim Hutcheson of Severna Park, MD; one son and his wife, Scott and Beth Gattey of Newtown, Ct; one brother, K. Davis Cahoon of New Jersey; one sister, Shelley C. Watt of New York; and known as "Gram cracker" she was also loved by her eight grandchildren, Kelly, Paul, Clay, Nevan, Shane, Nathan, Holly and Ean. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00-12:00 at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A funeral service will take place immediately following visitation Saturday at 12:00 at the funeral home with the Rev. Chris Weichman officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. In addition to floral tributes, memorial contributions may be made to Family Hospice and Palliative Care, 701 N. Hermitage Road, Bldg. 1, Suite 5, Hermitage, PA 16158.
