Obituary

Linda J. Patton, age 80 of New Castle, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the evening of Oct. 27, 2021, at her residence surrounded by her family. Born June 6, 1941, in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late Lemuel J. and Rosebelle (Downing) Reynolds. On May 14, 1960, she married her beloved husband of 61 years, James L. Patton. He survives at home. Linda was a proud 1959 graduate of Laurel High School being the 1st class to graduate from the new high school. She was a homemaker who loved antiques, garage sales, long car rides and a good card game. Linda appreciated nature and was fascinated by the night sky, especially a beautiful full moon. What gave her the most joy in life was her family, but especially her grandchildren. Linda loved attending all of her grandchildrens' sporting activities, where she rarely missed an event. She was a member of New Life Baptist Church where she was active in the Young at Heart Ministry. In addition to her husband, James, Linda is survived by one son, David (Susan) Patton of New Castle, PA; one daughter, Jodi (Dennis) Drake of Volant, PA; a daughter-in-law, Jacqueline Patton of New Castle, PA; three sisters, Myrna (Merle) Hawkins of Lordstown, OH, Carol Martin of Volant, PA and Gayle Roberts of Orlando, FL; six grandchildren, Kylee Patton of Pittsburgh, PA, Ashlee (Will) Purcell of New Castle, PA, Allison and Hannah Drake of Volant, PA and Will and Sam Patton of New Castle, PA. Along with her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her son, W. John Patton and two brothers-in-law, David Martin, and David L. Patton. In keeping with Linda's wishes, a private service for family, will be held at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be offered to John Patton Memorial Sports Camp c/o First Baptist Church, 984 W. Maitland Lane, New Castle, PA 16105.
