Lloyd J. Kerr, age 82, of Shenango Township, passed away the morning of January 10, 2016 at his residence.
Born April 24, 1933 in New Castle, he was a son of Worth and Jeannette Wright Kerr.
Surviving at home is his wife of 60 years, Elsie M. Trusel Kerr, whom he married June 15, 1955.
Following his graduation from Princeton High School in 1952, Lloyd served in the Army as a Corporal while stationed in Germany from 1953-1955.
He was employed for 43 years with the Penn Power Company as a boiler operator until his retirement in 1991.
Lloyd was a hunter, an outdoorsman, and enjoyed restoring old cars and tractors, especially John Deeres. He was a member of the Castlewood Rod and Gun Club and was active with the Lawrence County Fair where he helped in running the antique building. Lloyd was also active in his neighborhood, always known to lend a helping hand.
An active member of Oak Grove Presbyterian Church, he served as an Elder and trustee.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter and her husband, Linda and Gordon Knight of Poland, Ohio; two sons and their wives, Scott E. and Bonni Kerr of Hudson, Ohio and Mark L. and Chris Kerr of New Wilmington; two sisters, Ruth (John) Harlan and Donna (Joseph) Sorbo all of New Castle; 10 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Donald Kerr.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road.
A funeral service will take place on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Officiating will be Rev. Brian Nutt of Oak Hill Presbyterian Church of North Canton, Ohio.
Burial will be in Mt. Hermon Cemetery.
