Lois Marion (Smith) Beckwith went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 22, 2020 at the age of 104. She was born January 1, 1916 to Fredrick E. Smith and Edna B. (Young) Smith and lived her entire life in New Castle. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Charles in 1987. She graduated from New Castle Senior High School and from Slippery Rock State Teachers College. Then she taught in the New Castle and Mohawk school districts at the Arthur McGill, Croton, John F. Kennedy and Hillsville elementary schools. She was a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood and belonged to the Clen-Moore Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. Lois Marion is survived by sons and their spouses, Terry (Sandy) Beckwith of Gibsonia, PA, David Beckwith of Hermitage, PA, and Bill (Jodi) Beckwith of New Castle. Affectionately called "Mee Maw" by her grandchildren, she is also survived by Heather (John) Wick of Mars, PA, Emily (Corey) Utz of Middlesex Twp., PA, Lon Beckwith of Florida, Laine (Justin) Pallerino of New Castle, PA, Dana (Zach) Nixon of Plano, TX, Aaron Outrakis of Cranberry Twp., PA, Abby (Brian) Briski of Pittsburgh, PA, Jennifer (Jeremy) Iorio of New Castle, PA; and 13 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and her husband, Lois was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Donna Beckwith. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 26, from 10:30-12:00 at Clen-Moore Presbyterian Church, 220 Clen-Moore Blvd., New Castle. A Memorial Service will take place immediately following visitation Monday at 12:00 at the church with Pastor Louis LaGatta officiating. Burial will be in Castle View Memorial Gardens.
