Obituary

Lois L. Cochran, 93, of 224 Terrace North Lane, New Castle, (formerly of Cochran Drive) passed away the afternoon of February 12, 2015 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio. Born June 25, 1921 in Eldred, PA., she was a daughter of Rev. Leo Benedict Southworth and Hazel Payne Southworth. She was preceded in death on January 5, 2007 by her loving husband of 63 years, James C. Cochran, whom she married September 11, 1943. She was a graduate of New Castle High School. Lois was employed as a payroll clerk at the U.S. Navel Air Station in Florida. Prior, she was a secretary and Notary Public for the Aluminum Company of America and was a decorator with Shenango China. Lois not only liked boating, but she enjoyed life to the fullest, especially the times she spent with her family. A former member of Maitland Lane Free Methodist Church, she attended the New Castle First Assembly of God Church and was an active member of Sparklers at First Baptist Church. She is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, James L. and Denise Cochran, and Alan G. and Kathy Cochran, both of New Castle; 4 grandchildren, Kylee Cochran, Cheri Cochran, Teri Rising and David Cochran; and 3 great-grandchildren, Joshua Rising, Caleb Rising, and Camri Cochran. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Ruth Richie and one brother, Grant Wesley Southworth. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2:00-6:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road. A funeral service will take place on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Chad Stoecker and Rev. John Yergan officiating. Burial will be in Castle View Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the New Castle First Assembly of God, 2021 Pulaski Road, New Castle, PA 16105 or to Sparklers at First Baptist Church, 984 W.
