Lois R. McCartney, 86, of 907 Cottage Grove, New Castle, passed away the afternoon of January 3, 2012 at Nugent Convalescent Home in Hermitage.Born April 14, 1925 in New Castle, she was a daughter of Clyde and Dama Paden Shoaf. She married Richard M. McCartney on November 8, 1952. He preceded her in death on June 1, 1997.She was a graduate of New Castle High School.Lois retired from the U.S. Postal Service where she was a rural mail carrier. She was a member of First Christian Church.She is survived by one son, R. Scott and his wife Celesta McCartney of Bessemer; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Paul, Ray, Guy and Dale Shoaf; and one sister, Jean McGuire.The family will receive visitors from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, January 10, 2012, at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road.A memorial service be held immediately following visitation on Tuesday, January 10, 2012, at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home. The Rev.
