Lois L. Hunter Spinney, Age 90, formerly of 819 E. Pearl Street, passed away on Sunday, April 15th, 2012 in the Haven Convalescent Home.Born July 22nd, 1921 in Jersey Shore, Pa. Lois was the daughter of the late Gordon LaRue and Lillian E. Richards Hunter. She married Robert F. Spinney on Oct. 26, 1940 and they celebrated over 68 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on May 14, 2009.Lois was a 1939 graduate of Jersey Shore High School. She was a loving mother and grandmother and devoted homemaker who liked reading and playing the organ. Lois was also a member of First United Methodist Church.She is survived by two daughters, Linda Burns, and Barbara Evans and her husband Russell, all of New Castle; a brother, Richard Hunter of Altamonte Springs Fla.; as well as five grandchildren, Karen Gall, Pam DeVincentis, Lori Carpenter, Christopher Burns and Jill Fulton; and six great-grandchildren.In addition to her parents and husband, Lois was preceded in death by a son-in-law Thomas Burns.Visitation will be held on Friday, April 20, 2012, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 2429 Wilmington Rd., New Castle.A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Edward Bailey officiating.
