Lois Adele Sutton, age 93 of Meadville, PA, formerly of New Castle, PA, passed away the evening of Nov. 11, 2021, at Westbury United Methodist Retirement Community, in Meadville, PA.
Born Dec. 5, 1927, in Allegheny County, she was the daughter of the late Lester K. and Mona (Gray) Stoner.
She first married, Melvin Ruby who preceded her in death. Subsequently she married John J. Sutton, Jr., who also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Sutton was a graduate of Princeton High School. She went on to earn a degree at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. Lois was a freelance commercial artist for several years. When she was not creating work for her clients, she enjoyed being a homemaker, painting, drawing, and writing poetry. Lois was a member of Oak Grove Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include three sons, Keith A. (Carolyn) Ruby of Centerville, VA, Calvin (Terri) Ruby and Russel D. Ruby both of New Castle, PA; sister-in-law Mary Stoner of New Castle; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husbands, Lois was preceded in death by twin daughters, Mona and Donna Ruby; one son, John J. Sutton III,; two brothers, Kenneth and Ray Stoner; one sister, Ruth Perdue; and a granddaughter, Kandy Ruby.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, November 17, at 1:00 at Mt. Hermon Cemetery.
