Lois Elaine (Tingwall) Thompson, age 91, of New Castle, passed away the evening of Oct. 19, 2023, at UPMC Jameson Hospital.

Born Dec. 11, 1931, in Warren, PA, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence Tingwall and Ann K. Tingwall (Fink) Mullen.

She married Richard M. Thompson who preceded her in death in 1993.

Lois was a graduate of Warren High School. After obtaining her license to become an RN, from Allegheny General Hospital School of Nursing, Lois worked as an office nurse for Drs. Sam and Dave Perry. She then went on to become a supervisor for The Overlook Nursing Home, until her retirement. She loved to read, work puzzles, and open her home to host a woman's group from her church. For over 50 years, she was a faithful member of Faith Country Chapel. What gave Lois the most joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Lois will always be remembered as someone who was caring, selfless, and always put others before herself.

Survivors include her two sons, Mark A. (Lori) Thompson, of TX, Bryan E. (Cheryl) Thompson of Wampum, PA; one daughter, Lori (Robert) Slack, of New Castle, PA; one brother, James Tingwall of Warren, PA; and 9 grandchildren, Shad Thompson, Shayla Moffett, Shawn Thompson, Shyanne Cyrus, Stephen Slack, Margo Dominicis, Allison Zeigler, Travis Braatz, and Evonne Masello; and 13 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, and husband, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Joseph Mullen.

A memorial service to honor Lois will be held at a later date.
