Obituary

Lois I. Woodring, 96, of Union Township passed away the morning of August 9, 2016 at Jameson Care Center. Born on July 16, 1920 in New Castle, she was a daughter of Harry and Hannah Foster Hetrick. She graduated from New Castle High School in 1939 and attended New Castle Business College. Mrs. Woodring retired from the Union Area School District in 1982 as Secretary to the Superintendent of Schools. Prior to that, she had worked for the Chamber Motor Co. She married David "Woody" Woodring on June 21, 1947. He passed away on April 25, 2003. She enjoyed her family, especially watching her little great-grandchildren growing up. She also enjoyed reading and watching TV, and in her younger years shopping. She and her husband both enjoyed camping and traveling and visiting family when he lived. Lois was an avid sports fan and loved watching the Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins. Mrs. Woodring was a member of the New Creation Free Methodist Church on Arlington Avenue, New Castle, PA. She is survived by her daughter, Karen Sauders and husband, Bill, of New Castle; a son, Richard Woodring and wife, Cindy, of Smethport, PA; a grandson, Scott Sauders and wife, Rachel, of New Castle; a granddaughter, Jodi Wahba, of North Carolina; a granddaughter, Tracy, and a grandson, Ryan Woodring, of Smethport; four great-grandchildren, Shannon and Jackson Sauders and Boston and Lincoln Wahba. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her step-mother; two granddaughters, Stacy and Michelle Woodring; and a great grandson, Crosby David Wahba. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 3:00 PM on Saturday at the R Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Rd. A funeral service will immediately follow visitation at 3:00 PM at the funeral home with Pastor Sue Lawton officiating. Burial will be in Castle View Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made in Lois' name to New Creation Free Methodist Church, c/o Missions or Outreach, 767 Arlington Avenue, New Castle, PA 16101 or to the Salvation Army, 2400 W.
