Lynda Ann Leyde Johnston, 75, of 615 Leesburg Station Road, Volant, passed away the afternoon of August 28, 2012 at Orchard Manor in Grove City, PA.Born December 1, 1936, in New Castle, she was a daughter of Joseph B. and Selina Isaac Leyde. She married James A. Johnston on January 7, 1961. He preceded her in death on December 21, 1994.She was a graduate of New Castle High School and attended Youngstown State University.Lynda was formerly employed as an office manager for Dr. Pommersheim in New Castle. Prior to that she worked for AAA. She was involved in Girl Scouts and Jameson Junior Guild. Lynda enjoyed reading, sewing, and spending time with her grandchildren.She was a member of Leesburg Presbyterian Church.Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Scott McGaffic of New Castle and Susan and Jack Grimm of Volant; and seven grandchildren, Alec, Emily and Juliana McGaffic, and Jack III, Jed, Wyatt and Pete Grimm.In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Patricia Leyde Cooper.A private family graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 30, at Oak Park Cemetery. Rev. Thomas Gomola will officiate.Arrangements are by the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc.
