M. LaVerne Alex, age 82, of Oklahoma City, passed away December 13, 2019, at Epworth Villa, in Oklahoma City, OK. Born on Nov. 29, 1937, in New Castle, PA, she was married to her beloved husband, the love of her life, Robert Alex for 54 years. He preceded her in death Nov. 2011. LaVerne was a graduate of New Castle High School. She was a beautiful homemaker, turning her home into a magical wonderland during her favorite holiday, Christmas. LaVerne was an avid swimmer and was a swimming instructor at the New Castle YMCA in the 1960's. She also taught at Cascade Park, during those years. LaVerne was one of the first instructors, in the area, to introduce babies to the water. What gave LaVerne the most joy in life, was spending time with her family. Survivors include three sons, Dr. Bradford (Stella) Alex of Porter Ranch, CA, Gregory (Vilma) Alex of Kearney, MO, Scott (Michelle) Alex of Moore, OK; one daughter, Kristin (Dr. Mark) Davies of Edmond, OK, 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Fri. Dec. 20th from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.
