Mabel M. Jenkins, 90, of Adams Street, passed away the afternoon of August 1, 2012 at Jameson Hospital.Born December 2, 1921, in Volant, PA, she was a daughter of Sherman Joseph and Mary Ellen McConahy McConnell.She married William A. Jenkins, Jr. on September 5, 1947. He preceded her in death on March 31, 2001.She was a graduate of Eastbrook High School and New Castle Business College.Mabel retired from the Youth Development Center as a purchasing secretary after 20 years of service.She was a member of T.O.P.S. and Wimodausis.Among her many interests, she loved to play the piano, taking walks throughout her neighborhood and crossword puzzles. She cherished most the time she spent with her family and her grandchildren.Mabel was a member of Third Presbyterian Church where she attended the True Blue Sunday school class.She is survived by a daughter, Sue E. Jenkins of New Castle; two sons and daughters-in-law, William A. and Roselyn Jenkins, III of San Mateo, CA. and Timothy S. and Rhnee Jenkins of New Castle; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Harold and Mickey McConnell and Kenneth and Beverly McConnell, all of Volant; two sister-in-laws, Gladys McConnell and Jane McConnell of Volant; three grandchildren, Kylee Criss, Steven (Lauren) Jenkins and Michael Jenkins; and three great-grandchildren, Gavin Criss, Gage Criss, and Makenna Jenkins.In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Marie L. Carter; and two brothers, Arnold McConnell and Richard McConnell.Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2012, from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road.A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2012, immediately following visitation at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
