Margaret 'Peggy'
Wimer
Jul 28, 1924 — Jan 21, 2026
Margaret 'Peggy' Wimer, age 101, of New Castle, PA, passed away the morning of Jan. 21, 2026, at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born July 28, 1924, in Butler, County, PA, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Velma (McClure) McDeavitt.
On March 20, 1945, she married to her beloved husband, Gaylord Wimer, Sr., until his passing.
Margaret was a graduate of Harlansburg School. She loved to read, garden, and sew. She was the matriarch of her family, and the Rosepoint area. She was known as Gram to everyone. She carried herself with quiet strength and deep faith, teaching by example more than words ever could. Margaret did everything for everybody. Her home was always open, and so was her refrigerator. No one ever left hungry. Though she has left this world, Margaret's legacy lives on in the values she passed down, the traditions she built, and the countless lives she touched simply by being herself. Margaret was a faithful member of Oak Grove Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Karen Hunt of New Castle, PA; one son, Gaylord Wimer, Jr., of New Castle, PA; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Margaret was preceded in death by son, Daniel Wimer, brother Merle McDeavitt, and two great-grandchildren, Haylee and Remington.
