Margery H. McConnell, age 97, of New Castle, passed away the afternoon of April 30, 2022, at Jameson Care Center. Born March 24, 1925, in Pershing, OK., she was the daughter of the late Wilson W. and Mabel (Stewart) Howe. On Sept. 8, 1951, she married her beloved husband of 61 years, Robert T. McConnell. He preceded her in death on Oct. 15, 2012. Margery was a graduate of New Castle High School, class of 1943. She attended Indiana State Teacher College and graduated from Grace Martin's Business School. Margery was the former owner of Mimeo Letter Shop, located in New Castle. Before her retirement, Margery was a secretary at Sankey Youth Center of City Rescue Mission. She enjoyed reading, handwork, word & jigsaw puzzles and was a member of Wimodausis. Margery was a life-long active member of Clen-Moore Presbyterian Church where she was a former deacon, a member of Irvine Bible Class, Prime Timers, Mary Circle and Presbyterian Woman. Survivors include, two daughters, Kathleen (Syd) McCrorey of Elmira, NY, and Carol (John) Caparoula of New Castle, PA; one son, Daniel R. (Darla) McConnell of Corsica, PA; six grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Margery was preceded in death by one brother, Robert S. Howe. Visitation will be held on Tues. May 3rd, from 2:00 – 4:00 PM at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A funeral service will immediately follow visitation at 4:00 PM with Pastor Michael Spicuzza, of Clen-Moore Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery.
