Margherita "Dolly" Eda Lockley, age 92, of Stuart, Florida, passed away May 23, 2023, in Stuart, Florida.

Born November 17, 1930, in New Castle, she was the daughter of Fausto and Egidia (Julian) Del Castello.

In 1951, she married her high school sweetheart, Sidney Robert Lockley, and enjoyed 63 years together until his passing on March 30, 2014.

After graduating from New Castle High School in 1948, she went on to earn her nursing degree from Jameson School of Nursing in 1951. Dolly was employed as a registered nurse at Jameson Memorial Hospital until her retirement.

While living in the New Castle area, Dolly was active with several clubs including the New Castle Garden Club, the New Castle Sewing Group, the Jameson Memorial Alumni Group and was president of the Crazy Quilters of Pt. St. Lucie, Florida. She was a longtime member of First Methodist Church where she was a member of the Women's Guild.

Knitting, sewing, photography and animals were among her many interests. She also enjoyed writing and self-published three children's books and a book of poetry.

She is survived by two daughters, Joanne (Thomas) Wetzl, with whom she made her home, and Gina Varo of Erie, PA.

In addition to parents and her husband, Margherita was preceded in death by a son, Daniel Robert Lockley; and two brothers, Ralph and Rudolph Del Castello.

A one-hour visitation will be held Friday, June 2, from 11:00-12:00 at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle, PA.

Mrs. Lockley will be laid to rest beside her husband in Graceland Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations be made to local no-kill animal rescue facilities.
