Mariana Owens, 86, of Willowhurst Circle, New Castle, passed away at her residence on February 20, surrounded by her loving family. Mariana (Nagel) Owens was born on April 30, 1935, in Oil City, PA to the late Edwin and Laura Nagel. She married Ed Owens on September 15, 1956, and he survives her at their residence. Mariana was a graduate of Tionesta High School. She worked for Wolf's Head Oil Company, Shenango High School, and Ranier Devido Stone Co. A 50+ year member of the Crusaders' Class at Third United Presbyterian Church, she was a dedicated volunteer for numerous church activities and local agencies. Mariana loved spending time with her family and wide circle of friends. She was an avid bowler and golfer and enjoyed needlework and baking—especially her famous pies. Mariana loved playing cards, trying her luck at the slot machines, dipping her toes in the sand during annual trips to Myrtle Beach and Florida, and anything associated with her favorite color, purple. In addition to her husband Ed, Mariana is survived by her brother, Charles Nagel, daughter Pam Owens of Pittsburgh, daughter Kim (Owens) Fiore and husband John Fiore of Pittsburgh, son Mike Owens and wife Laura Owens of Burke, VA, five grandchildren, Nicole, Johnny, Michael, Ryan and Jack, and two great-grandchildren, Jordan and Riley. Visitation followed by a brief Memorial Service and Celebration of Life, will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, February 26, at the Cunningham Funeral Home, 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. The family requests that out of respect for family members or friends, who might be of higher risk, everyone is asked to please wear a mask and maintain social distancing.
