Mariellen Kennedy Fletcher, age 93, of New Castle, passed away the morning of Aug. 29, 2023, at her residence.

Born Nov. 11, 1929, in New Castle, PA, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Margaret (Williams) Kennedy.

She married Robert Fletcher on May 21, 1952. He preceded her in death on Jan. 24, 2001.

Mariellen was a 1948 graduate of New Castle High School. She worked in the office at Johnson Bronze Company, but for most of her life, she was a homemaker who loved taking care of her family. Among her many interests, she enjoyed reading, traveling, music, working puzzles, being a church volunteer and a member of the Red Hat Society. Mariellen was a lifetime member of Third Presbyterian Church where she was a part of the Mission Committee and the craft group. Most recently, she was a faithful member of Northminster Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Fletcher is survived by her daughter, Jamie Fletcher of New Castle, PA; son, Robert (Leslie) Fletcher of Harwick, PA; four grandchildren, Chris Fletcher of Indianapolis IN, Rebecca (Tony) Xenakis of Clearwater, FL, Richard (Brandi) Schofield of Pittsburgh, PA, and Samuel (Cortney) Fletcher of St. Cloud, FL; and four great-grandchildren, Santina, Alyssa, Liam, and Henry.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mariellen was preceded in death by two sons, James Fletcher, and David Fletcher; three brothers, William Kennedy, Thomas Kennedy, and Jack Kennedy; and one sister, Shirley Hite.

Visitation will be held on Tues. Sept 5th from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM, at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.

A funeral service will take place, at the funeral home, at noon, with Rev. Jordan Rimmer, of Northminster Presbyterian Church, officiating.

Burial will be alongside her husband at Graceland Cemetery.
