Obituary

Marilyn Kay Bauman, age 71, of Graceland Road passed away peacefully in her home on July 4, 2025.

Born August 15, 1953, Marilyn was the third of four daughters of the late Richard (Dick) and Marie (Riley) Mann. She attended New Castle High School, graduating in 1971. After graduation, she immediately went to work for Liberty Mutual Insurance and would work there through many roles until her retirement as a beloved coworker in 2009.

Marilyn met the love of her life, Bruce Bauman, on a blind date in 1973, and they married in 1975, recently celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. In 1980, she welcomed identical twin sons who managed to keep her busy and loved for the rest of her days.

If there was one driving force in Marilyn's life, it was the love she shared with others. Everyone was always welcome in her home, and her kind demeanor meant everyone was a friend. She savored every minute of being around family and friends, especially her two grandchildren, Ryan and Jett. Holidays were extra special, with summer picnics or get-togethers, and large Thanksgiving and Christmas events spent ensuring everyone was together and happy.

Marilyn was also resilient when she needed to be. Beating cancer in 1993, she became active in Relay for Life, as both a committee member and team participant.

When not home in New Castle, Marilyn could be found traveling here, there, and everywhere. Summer vacations often consisted of trips to Ocean City, MD, or Walt Disney World. She also loved cruising and international travel, visiting 20 different countries, usually traveling with a large group of friends. No matter where in the world she was, she would be seen sporting Black and Gold to support her Pittsburgh sports teams, or Blue and White to support Penn State. A voracious sports fan, Marilyn loved watching her teams play whenever possible.

Marilyn is survived by her devoted husband, Bruce; her sons and daughters-in-law, Chris (Julie) Bauman of Virginia Beach, VA, and Craig (Rebecca) Bauman of Aliquippa, PA; and her cherished grandsons, Ryan and Jett Bauman of Virginia Beach. She is also survived by her sisters, Charleen Mann, Patty (Jim) Wilson, and Peggy Mann, all of New Castle; one nephew, three nieces, and a large extended family and circle of friends who will miss her dearly.
