Marjore Marge Furlong, 88, of Whispering Oaks, Hermitage, formerly of New Castle, passed away Sunday evening, December 9, 2018. She was born on February 22, 1930 in New Castle, the daughter of Warren E. and Edna (McElroy) Dodds and was a graduate of Shenango High School. She married Donald C. Furlong October 23, 1948. They enjoyed 68 years of marriage until his passing February 19, 2017. Survivors include a daughter, Joy Bowers (John Lucas) of California; two sons, John (Becky) Furlong of California and James (Lori) Furlong of Pennsylvania; three grandchildren, Kelly Childers of CA, Anthony Furlong of NY and Andrew (Jenna) Furlong of ID; plus seven great-grandchildren complete the family. Also surviving is a sister, Audrey Hromyak of Ohio; two sisters-in-law, Joan Johnson of New Castle, PA and Jacqueline Powell of CA; and a loving caregiver, Nancy, and her staff of Angels. While living in California for 28 years, Marge worked as manager of the fabric department at J.C.Penney and proudly earned a realtors license working in real estate. She donated her time and talent to making baby blankets for NICU babies at Loma Lunda Hospital and several other causes to help make children feel they have something to call their own. Visitation will be held on Monday, Dec. 17, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A funeral service will be held immediately following visitation at 11:00 at the funeral home with the Rev. Jordan Rimmer officiating. Burial will be in Savannah Cemetery.
