Marjorie A. Gibas, age 82, of New Castle, passed away the evening of Aug. 16, 2026, at her residence.

Born June 30, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Josephine (Baker) Smith.

Marjorie worked as a practical nurse, employed by Jameson Hospital, until her retirement. She enjoyed reading, taking long walks, and sewing. What mattered to her most in life, was her family. Marjorie was of the Presbyterian faith.

Survivors include her children, daughter, Cindy Papageorgeon, two sons, Mark Gibas and Joseph Gibas, one brother Kenneth Smith and one granddaughter, Maria Gibas.

In addition to her parents, Marjorie was preceded in death by her brother, Raymond Douglas Smith.

Visitation will be held on Sat. Aug. 22nd from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.

A funeral service will be held immediately following visitation at noon, with Rev. Jordan Rimmer of Northminster Presbyterian Church, officiating.

Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery.
