Marjorie Jean Goodpastor, 96, of 238 South Market Street, New Wilmington, PA, formerly of New Castle, passed away the afternoon of September 12, 2014 at Shenango Presbyterian SeniorCare.Born July 23, 1918 in Steubenville, Ohio, she was a daughter of Edward and Flossie May Cross Hatcher.She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. William E. Goodpastor, whom she married in 1944.After graduating from Steubenville High School and Allegheny General Hospital School of Nursing, she attended Boston University.Following her education, Marjorie was a registered nurse at Allegheny General Hospital and Weirton Steel. She then owned and managed the Goodpastor Medical Lab until she started two other businesses, a fabric business, The Tailor's Tack, and the Country House Christmas Shop in New Wilmington.She was a board member with the Salvation Army and the American Cancer Society.Among her many interests, Marjorie enjoyed travel, antique furniture restoration, interior design, and art.Marjorie loved her church, First Presbyterian Church, where she previously served as a deacon. She chose pursuits that allowed her to be involved with people.She was a devoted mother to her children, Dr. William Edward Goodpastor, M.D. and his wife Shelley M. of Sharon, PA, and Susan Agee and her husband Jon of Fort Lauderdale, FL. Also surviving are her two grandchildren, Rebecca Lynne Forgione of Studio City, Calif, and Shelley Lynn Goodpastor of Sharon.She leaves behind many loving and caring employees of Shenango Presbyterian SeniorCare. Their devotion to her is much appreciated by her family.In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, James Goodpastor; and two brothers, Paul and Robert Hatcher.Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 16, 2014, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, September 17, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 125 N. Jefferson Street, New Castle, and will be officiated by Rev. Nathan Loudon.Burial will be in Neshannock Cemetery in New Wilmington.
